About Fox Community Center Inc.
Fox Community Center Inc. (“Fox CC”) is a State of Tennessee-registered 501(c)3 nonprofit entity, formed to guide and support restoration and conversion of Fox Middle School in Gainesboro, Tennessee into a Community Center serving all of Jackson County.
This historic building was originally Jackson County High School from 1939 to 1969 and became Fox Middle School from 1970-2000. Located at 707 School Dr. in Gainesboro, half a mile from the Jackson County Courthouse, it has stood vacant since the new Jackson County Middle School was completed in 2000 at 170 Blue Devil Lane. The Fox building is owned by the Jackson County School District under the authority of the Jackson County School Board.
Working with the Jackson County School Board to obtain a long-term facility lease, Fox CC is also working with the Jackson County Board of Commissioners to pursue grant opportunities for funding the building’s restoration and improvements necessary to support the conversion. The collective goal of Fox CC, the School Board, Jackson County and the Town of Gainesboro is for this wonderful old building to serve as many in our community as possible, in the best ways possible.
Our Mission
As a nonprofit organization, Fox CC’s mission is to leverage an existing, unused resource (the old Fox School building) to create an active, thriving Community Center serving all of Jackson County. Working with our Town, County and School Board, we are determined to find a path forward to create a Center that will benefit Jackson County citizens of all ages.
